Jewelry often carries more than just aesthetic value. It holds memories, emotions, and stories that connect generations. Elizabeth Levytska, the founder and designer behind Levytska Jewelry, embodies this belief through her unique creations. Her journey from a childhood filled with curiosity about gemstones to crafting exquisite pieces like bespoke rings and 18k gold rings reveals how passion and individuality shape true artistry.

Childhood Fascination with Gems and Stories

Elizabeth’s love for jewelry began long before she held a tool or designed a ring. As a child, she was captivated by her grandmother’s jewelry box. It was not just a collection of shiny objects but a treasure trove of stories. Each piece sparked her imagination about its origin and the memories it held.

Her family environment nurtured this curiosity. With a chemist grandmother and an engineer grandfather, Elizabeth grew up surrounded by minerals and gemstones collected from around the world. These stones were more than decorative items; they represented entire universes of natural beauty and history. This early exposure planted the seeds for her future in jewelry design.

Her mother’s travel jewelry further deepened her understanding. These pieces carried the essence of distant lands and cultures, telling stories that postcards could not capture. Elizabeth realized that jewelry is a form of storytelling, a way to preserve emotions and memories in physical form.

The Spark That Ignited a Career

Elizabeth’s first step into jewelry making happened unexpectedly during her university years. Watching a television program about jewelry crafting triggered a sudden inspiration. She felt an immediate connection to the art form and decided to try it herself.

Without hesitation, she bought materials the same day and created her first necklace by the next. This necklace was not just a beginner’s project; it became a cherished piece still worn by a close friend over ten years later. This early success confirmed her path and fueled her dedication to mastering the craft.

Crafting Jewelry Beyond the Rules

Elizabeth believes the most beautiful jewelry emerges when artists break free from strict rules. Her designs reflect this philosophy, blending artistic individuality with the finest materials. She often works with gold rings and diamonds, but her approach is never conventional.

Each piece she creates tells a unique story, tailored to the wearer’s personality and experiences. For example, her bespoke rings are custom-designed to reflect personal milestones or emotions, making them more than just accessories. They become symbols of identity and memory.

Her use of 18k gold rings highlights her commitment to quality and durability. These rings combine the richness of gold with innovative design, ensuring they stand out while lasting a lifetime. Diamonds, carefully selected for their brilliance, add a timeless elegance to her collections.

Balancing Tradition and Innovation

Elizabeth’s work balances respect for traditional craftsmanship with a desire to innovate. She honors the techniques passed down through generations but is not afraid to experiment with new forms and materials. This balance allows her to create pieces that feel both classic and fresh.

Her background, influenced by science and engineering through her grandparents, gives her a unique perspective. She approaches jewelry design with curiosity and precision, ensuring every detail is perfect. Yet, she leaves room for creativity and spontaneity, which often leads to unexpected beauty.

The Emotional Connection in Jewelry

For Elizabeth, jewelry is deeply personal. She designs pieces that connect emotionally with the wearer, making each item meaningful beyond its appearance. This emotional layer is what sets her work apart.

Clients often come to her seeking a bespoke ring that captures a special moment—an engagement, an anniversary, or a personal achievement. Elizabeth listens carefully to their stories and translates them into designs that resonate on a personal level.

Her ability to blend gold rings and diamonds into meaningful art makes her jewelry treasured keepsakes. These pieces become part of the wearer’s life story, passed down and cherished for years.

What Aspiring Jewelry Designers Can Learn

Elizabeth’s journey offers valuable lessons for anyone interested in jewelry design or creative work in general:

  • Follow your curiosity: Her passion started with simple fascination, showing how early interests can lead to a fulfilling career.

  • Start creating immediately: She didn’t wait for perfect conditions but began making jewelry as soon as inspiration struck.

  • Value individuality: The best designs come from personal expression, not strict adherence to rules.

  • Focus on quality: Using materials like 18k gold rings and carefully chosen diamonds ensures longevity and beauty.

  • Listen to stories: Understanding the wearer’s emotions helps create meaningful bespoke rings.

How did a hobby become a profession?

After those first experiments, I realized I wanted to understand design on a deeper level — not only creatively, but professionally. That led me to study at the European School of Design.

It was a defining stage in my development. There, I gained a strong foundation and learned how to approach design consciously rather than relying solely on intuition.

After graduation, I entered a period of intense creativity. I designed fashion jewelry, experimented with countless materials, and participated in exhibitions and design fairs.

At some point, however, you decided to leave jewelry behind?

Yes, there was a period when I believed that chapter of my life had come to an end.

I thought it was time to move in a different direction. But life often has its own plans.

When the pandemic began, jewelry unexpectedly returned to my life — this time in a completely different way. Alongside other projects, I worked in a casting production facility, creating components and decorative elements for jewelry.

It was during that period that I became deeply involved in working with silver and rough, uncut gemstones.

Looking back, it was one of the boldest and most creative chapters of my career. The pieces became more unconventional, more artistic, and far more expressive.

What makes Levytska Jewelry different today?

I have always been interested in finding a balance between luxury and freedom of self-expression.

Many people are used to seeing gold, diamonds, and precious gemstones presented in a very traditional way. I prefer to approach them differently — with more boldness, individuality, and unexpected design choices.

That is why Levytska Jewelry is created for people who appreciate exceptional materials but do not want to look like everyone else.
